Jimmy Carnelli Bio

Jimmy resides in Southern California and has been a freelance recording and live performance vocalist/drummer/percussionist professional since 1979. His experience covers a broad range of musical endeavors including live performing, studio recording, composition and musical direction. He has worked in a variety of live and recorded performances with artists such as Chuck Negron, Mike Pinera, John Forgerty, Kenny Nolan, Spencer Davis, Danny Gans, Wolfman Jack, Bobby Kimball and the Los Angeles Raiders Big Band.

During the 90’s, Jimmy contracted and played on several of the CBS mini-series commercials as well as their network Welcome Home campaign featuring James Ingram.

In 1996, Jimmy began a 15-year tour of live performances as the drummer for the legendary pianist Roger Williams. Jimmy played with more than 30 symphonies across the country, performed with Roger at Carnegie Hall for Steinways 150 th anniversary and was featured on Roger’s live recording of Pop Goes the Ivories released in 2000. Jimmy was the voice of the band, announcing for Roger and singing with the audience. It was Roger who encouraged Jimmy to pursue his vocal talents.

For the last 5-years, Jimmy has been the entertainment for The Thalian’s Holiday Gala, a non-profit organization supporting UCLA’s Operation Mend lead by Debbie Reynolds for 52-years and under current President Kira Reed Lorsch and Chairman Ruta Lee. Jimmy has hosted guest performers notably Ronn Moss, Freda Payne and Frank Stallone.

Recent independent film, ‘Revival! The Experience’ starring Harry Lennix, Chaka Khan and Michelle Williams and written by Gospel singer Mali Music was released in theaters in December, 2018. Jimmy played drums for several songs in the movie including the song performed by Chaka Khan. Jimmy currently sings at Casa de Pizza, established in 1962, and where Frank
Sinatra himself ate lunch on rehearsal breaks and blessed the owner to name the main dining room “The Sinatra Room”. For the last four years, Jimmy has been performing there twice a month as the “Sinatra Guy” entertaining audiences with an authentic crooner style, singing from the Great American Songbook.

Jimmy joined the band “Player” as the drummer and backup vocalist and toured Australia in late 2014 with bass player Ronn Moss, who was a founding member of Player and also starred in a lead role on The Bold and the Beautiful for 25-years as Ridge Forrester edlekarna.cz. Jimmy will join Ronn again in 2019 with the newly configured Ronn Moss’s Player, set to tour with future dates to be announced.
